Artist in Focus: Shane Patrick Gallup

Artists often work in various mediums, but few are as versatile as our “Artist in Focus” this month, Shane Patrick Gallup.

A Liberian American, Shane was raised in Harrisburg—left, returned, left again. But wherever he wanders, he always leaves a piece of himself behind in his native city, where he has left an indelible mark.

Maybe you’ve seen some of his work in shows at the Art Association of Harrisburg or the Susquehanna Art Museum. Perhaps you’ve seen his Sprocket Mural Works mural downtown or his tattoo art. He also left a legacy here as a founder of Artcan, a local educational and nonprofit initiative focused on the power of art.

We’re delighted to feature Shane’s work on this page. His portfolio includes so many types of work—tattooing, illustration, photography, film, installation art, fashion, portraiture—that it was tough to whittle it down to this handful of images.

There’s so much more of Shane’s art to explore. We suggest visiting his Facebook page, “Artist Shane Gallup,” to keep up on his latest creations and his latest travels.
