A local transit system will aim to make its new tap-and-go payment easy riding.
rabbittransit on Tuesday announced that it will deploy street teams this month to assist riders with the new rabbitPAY fare system debuting July 21.
The regional bus system recently shared that it would transition to a smart card and mobile-based payment program, while also slightly raising fares.
“rabbitPAY represents a major step forward in providing a more convenient and modern transit experience for our riders,” said Richard Farr, executive director of rabbittransit. “Our Street Teams will be meeting riders where they are, providing hands-on assistance and personalized support to help everyone feel confident using the new system.”
From July 9 through 31, rabbittransit staff will be available at certain times to help riders with setting up rabbitPAY accounts in Harrisburg, Gettysburg, Hanover, Carlisle, Shippensburg and York. Street team schedules are posted on rabbittransit’s website.
In addition to setting up accounts, teams can help with activating smart cards, downloading the rabbitPAY app, loading fare onto accounts and cards and answering any questions.
